Hi All,
I enjoy the 3,000 + steps up to the Maryland Washington Monument. This year I had my Apple Watch along so I know how far it is from the base of the mountain up to the top of the Washington Mounment – about 20 stone steps that spiral up from the base in a circular staircase. There’s an iron railing to help keep your balance and reaching the top is its own reward.
In the Fall and Spring the are many birds migrating so you will find birders at the top. During my visit I saw an eagle but I think he eluded all my pictures.
I did get some spectacular shots to share with you and I hope when you’re in Boonsboro you’ll take the few minutes needed to reach South Mountain State Park and enjoy the view and the solitude that is the South Mountain trail.
